UA3AB Andy and his XYL Lena at APDXC 2010

I attended two APDXC meetings in 2005 and 2010 and enjoyed camaraderie and hospitality of this small and well arranged international ham meeting very much. In 2010, I came with XYL and trip turned out not just another ham meeting but great tour to learn rich Japanese history and culture. Hospitality of Mac and his assistants is above highest standards. ICOM factory tour and tea making experience were great part of two day conference. APDXC is great chance to meet old and make new friends and is highly recommended to attend. Will try to make it again myself with A5 presentation.

4J5T Natig at the APDXC 2010

I took part in a lot of similar events for all of 50 years of my radio amateur experience. I for the first time have visited Japan and though I much read and heard about this country but that I have seen in Osaka, has struck all my expectations. On this event the surprising spirit of friendliness dominates and rules, which unites all of us. Maybe it can from that, what many people having rich life experience here participate? Or because country is perfect and its people is perfect? Or because the event is organized by the very skilful team? Probably, all this together also has played a main role. In my age, it is difficult to get the new friends, but I count as honour for myself, that now at me such new friends, like Glenn Johnson, Tokuzo Inoue, George Varvitsiotes, Mac Shimamoto, Roberto Garcia and many others. I highly appreciate their mind, kindness, professionalism, gentle humour and readiness to support our hobby. Our meetings have given new energy for joint activity on radio bands. Winter days in Osaka quickly have passed, but for a long time there were pleasant memoirs and expectation of new meetings. And not only in Osaka: each of you - desired visitor in my country and in my city of Baku.

AB7TJ Joe at the Welcome Party of the APDXC 2010

Mac asked me to say a few words about the APDXC 2010. I had such a wonderful time and brought back so many memories that its very difficult to think of just a few words. To me just being in Japan was a dream come true. Like the majority of hams we have talked to many JA's on the bands and were impressed with their courteous and friendly mannerisms. I can say it's not just with the hams but the whole culture. Osaka is a beautiful city, clean, modern, and easy to get around. A must see is the nipponbashi "electronic" district, and what we would call the "farmers market". But the one thing that stood out the most was meeting Mr. Inoue, JA3FA and seeing the Icom factory.I am wondering how Mac is going to top 2010's convention this year.

ZL3TE Wes at the Welcome Party of the APDXC 2010

I have attended all three previous APDXC , and again, look forward to APDXC 2012. It is nice to meet so many wonderful people who are so passionate about their hobby and Country. I have also met many of the fine operators I have worked over the years. Mac, JA3USA, and his team have always organized a great event each year. The APDXC is not only about radio, but each year there is a different cultural experience. Most people think of Tokyo, as a destination, Osaka is another word, rich in culture and local food. One should try an original Okonomiyaki.

Wes Printz, ZL3TE
